About

About this journey.

I’ve always wanted to walk a long distance path. When visiting Mont Sant Angelo with Mum and Dad many years ago, I discovered the Via Francingena. An old pilgrimage route from Canterbury to Rome and beyond.

The route I’m taking, visits a couple of places where Mum and Dad would go on pilgrimage. (San Giovanni Rotondo – Mont St Angelo). And it also visits places I’ve heard about and always wanted to visit, Subiaco, and Monte Cassino.

I’ve always been interested in ancient ways and old medieval pilgrimage routes, so now I’m going to do it. It incorporates 3 ancient paths, the Way of St Thomas, The Way of St Benedict, and the Via Francingena.

Some of it by foot, and some of it by bike.
